SERVICES – EXCESS COVERAGE & UMBRELLA LIABILITY
Excess Coverage
Excess coverage is insurance coverage that provides liability limits in excess of the primary liability insurance. It is designed to increase the limits of liability, thereby providing additional coverage. Excess liability does not respond to a loss until the amount of the loss exceeds any existing primary policy limits.
In order to apply the excess liability coverage, simply increase the base liability limit (personal or auto) on the declaration page to the requested limits
Umbrella Liability
Umbrella liability is a broad, flexible, high limit liability coverage designed to supplement the primary liability protection, with a net effect of creating an “Umbrella” or blanket excess protection.
Benefits and/or Functions of Umbrella coverage:
- Provides an extra layer of liability coverage over and above primary home, farm, automobile, watercraft and recreational motor vehicle policies.
- Coverage of otherwise uninsured exposures (such as libel, slander, defamation or character invasion of rights or privacy, false arrest). This function is usually referred to as a “drop down” cover.
- Automatic replacement of the aggregate limits in underlying policies, when such limits have been reduced or exhausted through payment of losses.
- Increased the OPCF44R (SEF 44) Family Protection Benefits limits of the underlying automobile policy (ies).
Please contact a broker for more information on the above coverages.
