Kent & Essex Mutual Fire Insurance Company was formed in 1888 by a small group of farmers looking to insure themselves against losses from fire. These farmers served as policyholder, agent and director of the company.

From those humble beginnings we have grown into a stable and profitable insurance company that still specializes in farm insurance. We also offer a full line of home, auto and commercial insurance available through a network of brokers throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Essex County.

We pride ourselves in keeping those small town values and being able to offer our policyholders high quality insurance products at a reasonable price. For the last 20 years we have not increased the rates we charge to insure homes. Although the value of our homes has risen, the cost per thousand has stayed the same. We also give back to our policyholder by way of a refund, in profitable years. Over the last 21 years we have given back approximately 10 million dollars.

By employing our own in-house adjusters we are able to offer top notch claims service which is what really matters and is the reason we all need insurance. We pride ourselves in putting people first knowing that philosophy will be followed by a successful business. We are your friends and neighbours. We support our communities through youth sports, farm safety, local hospitals and the Childrens Safety Village. Because we live, work and shop in the same community as our policyholders we understand their unique needs.

Celebrating over 120 years of protecting our neighbours is no small feat. Due to the steady growth of our company our previous location became too small and we completed construction of a new facility in the fall of 2008. Paying special attention to the environment we have erected a structure that is energy efficient and has room for expansion as the company continues to grow.
