Kent & Essex Mutual is proud to have been the title sponsor for the RESPECT Tour 2011. It is a variety show of dance, music and puppets put on by Community Living Chatham Kent. Performers and crew are a blend of intellectually disabled individuals with the assistance of able bodied assistants of all ages. Local singer Crystal Gage was musical director and coach.
This production is intended to address the issue of bullying in our schools. Participants in the show shared some of their experiences with bullying and the inspirational ways they learned to cope. This was the fourth year for the tour and it is estimated that over 40,000 people have seen the production.
The RESPECT tour project was awarded the Community Living Ontario James Montgomerie Community Award for 2010/2011 for its impact on the community while promoting the positive perception of the abilities of individuals who have intellectual disability.
